1961

Beginning: Fior di Loto

The predecessor of Giaogiao Downtown was the Chinese restaurant opened in Florence in 1961 as "Fior di Loto".

2020

Rebirth: Giaogiao

Sixty years later, in the same place a stone's throw from the Duomo, Giaogiao was born, a new Chinese cuisine brand that keeps traditional recipes with a nod to innovation.

2024

Expansion: Giaogiao Novoli

In November 2024 the Giaogiao team expands in Florence with a new location: new dishes, same passion.

2025

Our first market

Selected Asian snacks, Chinese, Thai and Korean drinks: all in a specialized store near Viale Guidoni.

The latest: Giaogiao Empoli

From Fior di Loto to three restaurants

The story begins in 1961, when the family opens the Fior di Loto Chinese restaurant in Florence. Sixty years later, in 2020, GiaoGiao is born in the same place, a stone’s throw from the Duomo: the recipes stay traditional, the way they are served is renewed. Today it is GiaoGiao Duomo, at Via dei Servi 35R, 150 metres from the Accademia Gallery and 350 from the Duomo, open every day with no afternoon break.

In November 2024 the second restaurant opens in Novoli, at Via Nicola Tagliaferri 16/A, two hundred metres from the T2 tram stop: it is the one for marinated roast duck, Sichuan-pepper chicken and sweet and sour crispy pork. In 2025 comes GiaoGiao Market, the Asian grocery store in Via Lippi e Macia, near Viale Guidoni.

On 6 May 2026 GiaoGiao Empoli opens at Via Cavour 44, in the town centre and five minutes’ walk from the railway station: it is the only one with stir-fried rice cakes and soy vermicelli.

At all three restaurants the dumplings are closed by hand every day, the bubble teas are made to order and there is a section of vegan dishes. You can sit down at a table, or order at the counter or online and take it away.
